Ways to Save Money on Vacation Food

And if you want to spend the day as a family outside of the house, you will all need three meals a day. This can seem like torture if the weather is hot.

Fortunately, there are several ways to save money on vacation food & travel for Orlando vacation.

Here are Some Ways to Save Money on Vacation Food:

DON’T Eat Fast Food

Pound for pound, it is a lot cheaper to make your own food at home, and it will be healthier too. Experiment in making your own healthy special sauce, or a great homemade pizza, and you can save a bundle. This is one of the the best ways to save money on vacation food here in Orlando you can order food from Publix to be delivered straight to your vacation villa. You can order chicken breasts or steaks to cook on one of grills.

This is also much more expensive than making it yourself. Plus Orlando is a busy town, you will usually have to wait a long time to get your order. This is not fun when you have a group of hungry kids or teens.

DO Make Breakfast at Your Villa

If your family wakes up at different times on vacation, have several breakfast favorites on hand from cold cereal to hot oatmeal. You can slice some fresh fruit to have ready in the fridge. If you have a toddler, you will love our high chairs that you can rent so your little one is safe in his or her seat while everyone is enjoying breakfast.

DO Rent a Stroller from OTTER Equipment

DON’T Waste Leftovers

Americans currently throw away as much food as they eat, to the tune of approximately $160 billion a year. You work too hard for your money just to throw it away. It also ends up rotting in landfills, affecting greenhouse gases and climate change. Plan ways to use your leftovers.  For example if you grill salmon then the next day you can add it to a salad. Or if you grill several chicken breasts, then you can serve tacos the next day.

DO Plan Your Meals

The whole family can get involved in meal planning so you can cut down on waste. Plan meals around a central protein, such as a whole chicken or a pork tenderloin.

Eat one meal hot, and stretch the rest of the protein into tacos, burritos, a stir fry, and more, with the help of some vegetables.

DON’T Make Only Enough for One Meal

When we are at home we realize the it is often just as easy to make 8 or 12 portions as it is to cook four if you plan ahead. Bulk cooking will mean you each have one serving, and parcel up the rest into two more meals for four, or individual portions like TV dinners.

When you’re on vacation you don’t want to spend a lot of time cooking so can make-and-freeze meals are a form of bulk cooking, with the recipes formulated so all the ingredients can be frozen.

You can go to the supermarket, bring home your food and start cooking, which will save time compared to putting all the groceries away. You can go ahead and chop some veggies for snacks and place in a ziplock bag.

DO Visit Orlando’s Natural Treasures

Ride an airboat or kayak along a Shingle Creek. For less than $30 you can ride a kayak along Shingle Creek and enjoy Florida’s Natural Side. Most of Florida’s Beaches are free to access. You may have to pay parking here’s a link to more information about Florida Beaches.
